What is Nuon's Critical Mass?
When those in the gaming industry refer to "critical mass" they are talking about the amount of units sold before you gain respect from peers and support from developers. But what is the critical mass of NUON? Perhaps we should start by figuring out what the critical mass is to the "big three".
At the begining of the 32-bit generation critical mass was considered to be 1 million units. Sega's Saturn hit that mark though and is widely considered a failure. So we can first assume that critical mass has upped to around 3 million units. When asked if 5 million was critical mass Peter Moore, EVP of Marketing at Sega, said: "Five million is critical mass! I don't think anybody can turn their back on you in any industry, if you're talking to 5 million dedicated consumers. So is 5 million critical mass for NUON? We'll come back to this later...
Rest of story.
